Minimalistic and functional. Scandinavian design has truly taken over the contemporary design for any space possible. When converting your home (or one room) to Scandinavian design, crisp and clean look is your final destination.
While searching for ideas SKONA Design team is here to help and would like to point out 3 must haves of Scandinavian design and share a little sneak peak of our current project – expanding our own showroom.
1. START WITH FILLING YOUR SPACE WITH LIGHT.
You don’t need to go crazy with artificial lighting, but any shades of white used to paint your walls / cabinetry will reflect the natural lighting and make any room appear brighter. Don’t like all white look? Use natural wood textures or pop of colour in your cabinetry design to create an accent and make it more “you”.
2. IN FACT, STEP #2 REQUIRES WOOD.
Wood textures will add warmth to your minimalistic design and create a very friendly and inviting environment. Our favorite way to add wood textures is to go for two-toned cabinetry. It is also one of the biggest trends currently and it is here to stay for a long while.
3. HIDDEN KNOBS OR THEIR ABSENCE
As we discussed in our “2020 Trends” blogpost, hidden knobs aren’t just in now, but they are a big part of Scandinavian design in general. The cleaner the cabinetry is, the better. You can even opt out for sensors if you are looking to create an absolute high-tech space.
Speaking of high tech space, as we are expanding our showroom we are adding more and more technology into our kitchens and would like to show you our latest add-on. Let us introduce you to a lift up cabinetry system, that we will talk a little more about later on this month, so stay tuned!
